iOS developer LeminLimez suffers from catastrophic house fire, & here’s how you can help
In an unfortunate turn of events this weekend, Cowabunga project lead developer LeminLimez shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that they fell victim to a house fire, resulting in the collapse of their home and the loss of most of their worldly possessions.
From what we can gather, LeminLimez and their family are safe after the incident, if not slightly shaken up, and at least have a temporary place to stay. They hope that their insurance policy will pull through to replace most of what they lost in the fire.
We’ve covered a lot of LeminLimez’ work over the past couple of years, and they’ve always worked hard to push quality products to the community. Our hearts cry out for the well-being of LeminLimez and their family, and we wish nothing more than a speedy resolution to this traumatic life event.
In another post shared to X, LeminLimez said that work on their projects will be indefinitely paused.
LeminLimez also shared that their MacBook Pro was still pinging Apple’s Find My service after the event, which indicates that the machine should still be salvageable enough to extract data. We’re also told that some of their family member’s iPads were found unharmed in the aftermath, and still work.
While learning of such events can leave a lot of us feeling powerless even though we’d love to do nothing more than to help, a movement has already started to fundraise for LeminLimez and their family. Many prominent members of the jailbreak community, including Michael McAuliff (@MasterMike88) and Huy Nguyen (@Little_34306) have already contributed to the cause.
If you’re willing and able, you can help LeminLimez in their time of need by visiting their Ko-fi page and making a small donation. This is the same page that LeminLimez traditionally uses for donations for their work, which they offer free of cost to the community. You can learn more about the projects LeminLimez has worked on by visiting their GitHub page.
We are hopeful that LeminLimez is successful in extracting data from their damaged machine and that the process of finding a new home goes smoothly and swiftly.
