Samsung’s Galaxy Ring is the best smart ring, for whatever that’s worth
For health nuts, but not fitness freaks
According to Korean publication Money Today (via Jukanlosreve), Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy Ring 2 “in the fourth quarter of this year.” Samsung typically avoids launching new products in Q4, focusing instead on the S-series flagship in Q1 the following year, but it seems the Galaxy Ring 2 might arrive earlier than expected. This leak also aligns with a previous report suggesting an earlier launch.
Samsung’s next Galaxy Ring could pack a new battery tech
According to the report, one major upgrade that the next Galaxy Ring will pack is a new type of battery tech. The next Galaxy Ring could feature a “dream battery” thanks to the use of solid-state batteries. These offer higher energy density than the standard lithium-ion batteries used in most current Samsung devices and allow for more flexible designs.
Samsung has reportedly already developed solid-state batteries with energy density around 200Wh/L for wearable devices, but the goal is to push this to 360Wh/L before wider commercial rollout.

According to the report, the next Galaxy Ring will be the first to use this tech, with Galaxy Buds adopting it next year and Galaxy smartwatches expected to follow in Q4 2027. There’s no word yet on whether Samsung smartphones will ever feature this technology.
The current Galaxy Ring offers up to a week of battery life on a single charge, but solid-state batteries could push that even further. However, there are doubts about whether this battery tech will actually appear in the next-gen ring. First, solid-state batteries are expensive. Another concern is demand. While Samsung initially struggled to meet pre-orders for the Galaxy Ring, interest has somewhat cooled since then.
That said, we’ll likely learn more as we get closer to the release later this year.
