Motorola’s new Paris Hilton edition Razr+ is so unapologetically pink, it’s making Barbie look emo

Summary

  • Motorola has announced a limited-edition ‘Paris Hilton’ edition of its Moto Razr+ flip phone in an extremely bright pink color.
  • The special edition phone includes Paris Hilton’s signature and “That’s Hot” engraved on the hinge, exclusive ringtones, wallpapers, and a pink case with pink straps. It also comes in special packaging with a personalized message from Hilton.
  • The Paris Hilton Moto Razr+ retails for $1,200, a $200 markup from the standard pink version, and will be available in limited quantities starting February 13th.

It’s great to see phone manufacturers experiment with new colors for their latest innovations. Pastels are currently all the rage, with the upcoming Pixel 9a expected to be available in two new lavender and pink hues.

Samsung’s latest S25 series is available in some eye-catching colors too — though they’re exclusive to the South Korean tech giant’s website. Motorola, on the other hand, keeps experimenting with unique colors and finishes, with its most recent play being the Moto Razr+ 2024 dipped in Pantone Color of the Year 2025 — Mocha Mousse.

Now, roughly two months in, Motorola is already experimenting with another bold color choice for the Moto Razr+, and the tech giant seems to be throwing it back to the early 2000s with a hot pink that is hotter than the original pink Moto Razr V3.

Falling back on Paris Hilton (again), Motorola today announced a new Moto Razr+ Paris Hilton Edition device. The phone is so pink that it can make a flamingo blush. Cotton candy around the world is jealous of the device. It is so pink that we worry there might be a global pink dye shortage soon. Oh, did I mention the phone is pink? See it for yourself.

The regular Moto Razr+ has a pink colorway that normally retails for $1,000. It is currently on sale and available for $700. However, if you’re looking for the Pepto-bismol look, Motorola will sell you its new limited Paris Hilton edition Razr+ for only a $200 mark-up. Alas, jokes aside, the limited edition device costs $1,200, and will be available to order on Motorola’s website starting Thursday, February 13. The phone maker suggests that this is an exclusive drop that will only be available in “very limited quantities.”

So what all do you get for the marked-up device? Well, quite a lot, actually. If you’re a collector of buyers remorse celebrity memorabilia and looking to get your hands on a piece of pop culture history, then you’ve hit the jackpot. The device comes with Hilton’s signature on the rear, complete with “THAT’S HOT’ engraved on the flip phone’s hinge. You also get a lighter (almost) baby pink case alongside two case straps in…you guessed it, pink.

On the inside, all Paris Hilton Edition devices will come with “ten exclusive Paris Hilton-inspired ringtones and notification sounds and thirteen of the icon’s favorite wallpapers.” The device and its accessories, which includes a cable and a 68W charging brick, will all be bundled in a unique sleeve box, which Motorola says is a keepsake that’s as stylish as the phone itself. “This packaging features a personalized message from Paris Hilton, making it a must-have for fans of fashion, tech, and luxury.”

What phone colors would you like to see in the wild?

Pastels are all the rage, clearly, but I personally think everything constantly looking like it’s Easter is incredibly boring. I long for deep, dark, and bold colors. Why can’t I buy a Competition Yellow phone, or a phone that’s as purple as an eggplant? Why are there no bright red phones on the market (remember Product Red, what happened to that)? Instead, we get pastel after pastel, no matter the manufacturer, which is not only played out at this point, I find the colors fitting of baby showers, much less fitting for my personal smartphone.

So what’s the rub? Am I alone here? Is it ridiculous to wish we had some actual exciting colors to choose from when it comes to our smartphones, or is everyone happy with the status quo?
