Underscore.js _.bound() Method

The _.bound() method returns function which is a property of an object by name, bound to the object made.

Syntax:

_.bound( obj, function);

Parameters:

obj: The object in which the function is defined.
function: A function defined containing the returning logic.

Return Value: This method returns a function.

Note: This will not work in normal JavaScript because it requires the underscore.js contrib library to be installed. Underscore.js contrib library can be installed using npm install underscore-contrib –save.

Example 1:

// Defining underscore contrib variable 
var _ = require('underscore-contrib');  
  
var gfgObject = { 
    name: "zambiatek", 
    detail: "Computer science portal for zambiatek", 
    geekFunc: function() { 
        return this.name + ": " + this.detail; 
    } 
}; 
  
var gfgFunction = _.bound(gfgObject, "geekFunc"); 
console.log(gfgFunction());

Output:

zambiatek: Computer science portal for zambiatek

    one : 1, 
    two : 2, 
    geekFunc: function() {

console.log(gfgFunction());

Output:

1 and 2
