RootHide bootstrap updated to v1.4 betas 1 & 2 with more bug fixes & improvements
Monday was a day of updates for the RootHide bootstrap, a special bootstrap that lets users install and use jailbreak tweaks from a package manager app like Sileo just as they can on a jailbroken device, but without a full-fledged jailbreak and all the privileges that come with it.
The latest RootHide bootstrap updates were announced in a series of posts shared via the RootHide team’s 𝕏 account and came in the form of versions 1.4-beta 1 and 1.4-beta 2. We’ll go into more of the nitty-gritty the details of these updates below:
RootHide Bootstrap v1.4-beta 1
– Improved uicache to avoid broken tweak-enabled apps causing dpkg failures.
– Automatically run varClean for jailbroken apps and tweak-enabled TrollStore apps
– Reimplemented prefs-hook to keep var clean
– Added “Hide all jailbroken/TrollStore apps” button
RootHide Bootstrap v1.4-beta 2
– Fix possible crash of bootstrap server
– Fix incorrect app language preference settings
– Fix RootHide app not being packaged correctly
As you can probably tell, these are both considered ‘beta’ updates. This means that they contain bleeding-edge changes from the current public release, offering users a chance to test the latest features and report their stability to the developer. Existing users are only recommended to install these updates if they’re comfortable with the risks of installing a beta; otherwise, they may want to consider waiting for the full public release.
The RootHide bootstrap supports all iOS & iPadOS versions from 14.0-17.0 on all A8-A17 and M1-M2 chip-equipped devices.
